Artist Biography:
Edward Lansdown b.1838
Born in Bath, his mother was Mary Ann Lansdown and his father was Henry Venn Lansdown, a landscape painter and topographer born at High Littleton in Somerset, who then settled in Bath in 1830 and was a pupil of B. Barker of Bath. He produced both watercolours and brown wash drawings . Some of the latter were used to illustrate Meehan's Famous Houses of Bath .

His grandparents were Joseph Lansdown and Charlotte Venn
Henry Venn Lansdown was a friend of William Beckford (of Fonthill Abbey fame) and painted Beckford's Tower at Lansdown, Bath in 1839. He had a daughter, Charlotte (Edward's older sister), who published a collection of his letters about Beckford in 1893 after her father's death which occurred about 1860.
