Landscape and genre painter in oil and watercolour. Born at Arnold in Nottinghamshire on the the 18th Sept. 1875. Studied at Nottingham School of Art under Wilson Foster, at the Westminster School of Art and in Paris and Venice. Exhibited at the RA and principal London and Provincial galleries and extensively abroad. Elected to the RI in 1933. Painted in France, Italy and the USA and was a life member of the American Watercolour Society, also he was an Honorary member of New York Water Color Club. In 1920 he visited the USA and painted a sries of 30 oils depicting a chemical plant in Michigan. Lived in the south of France and Italy for many years but later returned to the West of England. Died at Seaborough in Devon.
