Artist Biography:
Born near Honiton 27th September 1856, he was a painter of street scenes, landscapes and harbour scenes in Devon and Cornwall. He started his working career as an artist and later turned to teaching and was the art master at Allhallows School from 1893 until the 1930's. Although he did not exhibit in London, Leyman did show his work locally, including sixteen pictures at the Annual Devon and Exeter Exhibition at Elands Art Gallery in 1906. His most common subjects include The Guildhall at Exeter, Clovelly and The Butterwalk, Dartmouth.
