Thomas Henry Victor commonly used the pseudonym 'W. Sands', why he did this
is unclear, but occasionally artists who were contracted to paint for a specific
gallery would earn "money on the side" by painting under a false name. A prolific
westcountry artist who painted mainly busy harbour and street scenes. His
pictures are characterized by both lively composition and colour. Born on
the 6th September 1894 in Penzance, Cornwall, he later owned a shop in Mousehole.
